As you now know, our State Parliamentary Leader, Mike Baird, has today announced his decision to step down as Premier and retire from politics.
Over the past six years, the Liberals & Nationals Government, that Mike has been a key part of and led, has turned NSW around. Our state now leads the nation in terms of economic growth and job creation, with the lowest unemployment rate. The state has virtually zero debt, surpluses forecast for the next four years and a record infrastructure programme that is being delivered.
Mike and his team have been prepared to take the necessary and, at times, tough decisions. This strong economic management has enabled frontline services to be boosted and extra resources to protect the vulnerable in our community.
After nearly ten years in parliament, including three years as Treasurer and almost three years as Premier, Mike Baird will leave a remarkable legacy.
Moreover, Mike has been an outstanding flag bearer for our Party and has faithfully represented its ideals and values throughout his career in public life.
On behalf of all members of the NSW Division, I thank Mike Baird for his leadership and service to the Manly community and the people of NSW.
We wish Mike, his wife Kerryn, their children and extended family all the very best for the future.

Acting State President
