Mark Taylor

Member for Seven Hills

Parliamentary Secretary for Police and Justice

Mark Taylor was born and raised in Old Toongabbie, playing cricket and soccer for the Winston Hill Bears and attending Model Farms and James Ruse Agricultural High Schools.

Mark’s father, a former Acting NSW Police Commissioner, instilled in his children the benefits of hard work and a good education. Following his father’s example, Mark earned a Bachelor’s degree and was admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW as a legal practitioner. He recently completed 25 years of policing service and is a senior officer in the Police Prosecutions Branch. Mark has been awarded the Centenary Medal, the National Medal and a Commissioner’s Commendation.

During a secondment to the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Mark developed several initiatives to cut red-tape and produce savings for both police and local courts. This experience, paired with his time as a local councillor, gives Mark a deeper understanding of the public sector and insight into ways to make our system more efficient and effective, improving the everyday lives for the people of Seven Hills.

A strong commitment to family underpins Mark’s daily life. Petrina, a primary school teacher at Winston Hills and Mark have been married for over 15 years. They have two young children who love swimming, learning to cook and cheering on the Parramatta Eels, GWS Giants and the Western Sydney Wanderers.
