Ray Williams

Member for Castle Hill

Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier and Western Sydney

Ray is a member of the NSW Legislative Assembly, being first elected to parliament in 2007 following a term as councillor on the Hills Shire Council. Ray was first elected as the Member for Hawkesbury in 2007; however, due to electoral boundary changes, he contested the seat of Castle Hill, and was subsequently elected the Member for Castle Hill on March 28, 2015.

Ray was sworn in as the Minister for Multiculturalism and Minister for Disability Services in January 2017. Prior to his appointment as a Minister, Ray served as the Parliamentary Secretary for Transport and Roads and for Western Sydney.

Raised and educated in the local area, Ray commenced his working life in two metal trade apprenticeships prior to working in the transport industry for 22 years, where he completed an additional two trade qualifications.

Between 1985 and 2005 Ray held a Racing NSW Thoroughbred Trainers Licence and successfully operated a small business during that time within the Thoroughbred Racing Industry.

With his involvement in local and state government, Ray has since completed a Graduate Certificate of Development Planning and a Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning at Curtin University.
