Delivering a safer Bega

Wednesday, 01 July 2020
Bega Council will receive more than $130,000 from the Morrison Government for public security upgrades.

Liberal candidate for Eden-Monaro, Dr Fiona Kotvojs, welcomed funding that will boost the council’s efforts to ensure that everyone in the community can feel safe.

“This funding from the Safer Communities Fund is helping to protect local communities by ensuring they have necessary security infrastructure.

“The funding will allow the council to upgrade and install equipment such as security lights, CCTV cameras, alarm and PA systems, that will reduce anti-social behaviour and increase community safety.”

The Safer Communities Fund grant was open to eligible schools, pre-schools and other community organisations that are facing security risks associated with racism and religious intolerance.

“This investment from the Morrison Government is helping to reduce fear of crime, and will help to foster greater community harmony.

“If elected, I will spend every day working to ensure that all people in in our community are safe.”
