Helping bring tourists back to Eden-Monaro

Monday, 22 June 2020
The Morrison Government is supporting local businesses and tourism through the Regional Tourism Bushfire Recovery Grants program.
Liberal candidate for Eden-Monaro, Dr Fiona Kotvojs, welcomed government funding for four local events as a way of helping to bring back tourists.
“Our region has been going through tough times, and our tourism industry has been one of the hardest hit,” said Dr Kotvojs. “First, the bushfires kept people away in summer, and then COVID-19 stopped everyone travelling.”
“These grants will help local councils across the region to put on great community events, helping to promote our region to tourists and giving local families a great day out.
“With COVID restrictions easing, and people once again able to travel to our region, the tourism grants will help us to attract tourists – but they will also create opportunities for local businesses.
“Thousands of jobs rely on our tourism industry, with businesses from the coast to the mountains depending on tourists returning to our region.
The funding will help councils to put on the Bungendore Street Party, Eurobodalla’s Thank You Firies event, Bungendore Meet and Make Expo and Narooma Oyster Festival.
“If elected as the Member for Eden-Monaro, I will have laser-like focus on working within the Government to support our tourism industry and small businesses.”
