Protecting our snow fields from COVID

Friday, 26 June 2020
The Morrison Government is delivering additional personal protective equipment to general practices around the Snowy ski fields, to help protect our frontline health workers.

Liberal candidate for Eden-Monaro, Dr Fiona Kotvojs, welcomed the one-off boost for Snowy Mountains’ GP clinics, helping them to prepare for winter tourists.

The Government has been working with the Southern Eastern NSW PHN to determine how best to allocate this equipment.

“Our businesses are ready to welcome back tourists, with the ski season bringing a much-needed boost to our economy,” said Dr Kotvojs. “But to ensure that we protect our community and our health workers from COVID, medical centres will be getting additional protective equipment.”

“Thousands of masks, gowns, face shields and gloves will be arriving in clinics from Bombala to Thredbo, in Jindabyne and Perisher this week.

“This boost in protective equipment stocks for general practices located near the ski fields should put the community’s mind at ease – knowing that both our local patients and visitors can be safely looked after.”

Dr Kotvojs warned tourists that boosting the protective equipment stocks does not give anyone permission to ignore the medical advice to practice physical distancing and good hygiene.

“If any of our visitors feel unwell, no matter how minor, they must follow the public health advice.”
