VOLUNTEER GRANT MAKES A SPLASH AT DRUMMOYNE SWIMMING CLUB

Tuesday, 10 November 2020
Dr Fiona Martin MP, Member for Reid, is proud to support volunteers of the Drummoyne Swimming Club through a Volunteer Grant totalling $2,020.

“Many of our grass-roots sporting groups rely on volunteers, and they often give up their own time and funds to keep the Club running,” Dr Martin said.

“I’m glad that this federal funding will help the Drummoyne Swimming Club provide swimming lessons and coaching, so that members of our community can keep active and do the activities they love.”

Mr Adrian Bell, President of Drummoyne Swimming Club, has said that the grant has already made a big difference to the upcoming swimming season.

“We have allocated part of the grant money to acquiring a new computer tablet. This has been purchased already and will be used to improve the efficiency of member registration and records management,” Mr Bell said.

“The tablet is especially handy to help record attendance at club events this coming season in order to meet the requirements of our COVID-19 safety plan.”

The remaining funds have been allocated to coaching education, to train the next round of swimming coaches.

“Once trained up, the attendees will be able to join our club coaching ranks and help provide cost effective lessons and training sessions to club members,” Mr Bell stated.
