A re-elected Morrison-McCormack Government will invest more than $400,000 in upgrading Kevin Walsh Oval in Jamberoo to encourage physical activity in the region.

As part of the nation’s first sports plan - Sport 2030 – the Liberals and Nationals have set a goal to reduce inactivity across the nation by 15 per cent by 2030.

“The Morrison-McCormack Government has made it a key priority to promote the social and health benefits of physical activity and our investment to help upgrade the oval’s facilities and infrastructure such as its fencing will provide a real encouragement for locals not currently active,” Liberal for Gilmore Warren Mundine said.

Nationals for Gilmore Katrina Hodgkinson said: “The investment today at the Kevin Walsh Oval will make the facility safer and allow the local rugby league to compete in first-grade.”

“The Liberals and Nationals are supporting local grassroots sports because we recognise the wider health, social and community benefits that come from greater activity and participating in sport.”

Senator for New South Wales Arthur Sinodinos said: “Sport 2030’s aim is for Australia not only to be an active and healthy sporting nation, but to be a world leader known for our sporting success.”

“This funding is make possible by the strong economic management of the Morrison-McCormack Government, allowing investment in important community facilities and encouraging physical activity across the region.”
