JAIMIE ABBOTT WILL CONTEST PORT STEPHENS FOR THE LIBERAL PARTY

Monday, 13 August 2018

Local small businesswoman and RAAF reserve Squadron Leader Jaimie Abbott, is asking the community for their support at the 2019 NSW Election as the Liberal Candidate for Port Stephens.

Jaimie is a Nelson Bay local, and has been representing her community since her election as a Port Stephens Councillor for the East Ward.

Jaimie has an innate understanding of the needs of local small businesses, having operated her own small public relations business for the past few years.

“My experiences running my own small business will help me to fight for a better deal for other businesses in Port Stephens,” she said.

Jaimie also spent seven years as the President of Hunter Animal Rescue, is a volunteer presenter for Port Stephens FM, was on the committee of the Hunter Business Women’s Network and volunteered for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Volunteer Support Group.

As a Communications Adviser for the Royal Australian Air Force, Jaimie participated in international Air Force exercises in Malaysia, Hawaii, Alaska, The Philippines, and Guam. In 2011, she was deployed for six months to Afghanistan, earning the Afghanistan campaign medal, the Australian active service medal and the NATO medal.

“I’ve had an incredible career to date, but the opportunity to represent my community in state Parliament is the most exciting.”

As a Port Stephens Councillor, Jaimie has been a strong advocate for her local community, helping to deliver funding for a Shoal Bay playground that will cater for children with a disability and Council support for Fingal Bay Link Road becoming a state road.

“There is a lot of work to be done, which can only be achieved with a Member for Port Stephens who will work within the Berejiklian Government and with the Port Stephens Council,” she added.

Jaimie said Port Stephens is much better off under the Berejiklian Government, which has managed to pay off Labor’s debt, and delivered better health, transport, emergency and community services and road upgrades.

“Only the Liberals can deliver a Government that will manage our economy and continue to deliver roads, schools and health services that our region needs.”
