St Mary's Catholic Primary School Concord has received $18,000 through the Morrison Government’s Local Schools Community Fund for a new shade structure.
Dr Fiona Martin MP, Member for Reid, was pleased to visit the school following the project’s completion.
“It was wonderful to meet the kindergarten students and see how the new shade structure is keeping them sun safe,” Dr Martin said.
“St Mary’s has a beautiful and inclusive school community, and it is great to see how this federal funding is improving the school’s infrastructure.”
Principal Anna Marsella said that the installation provides students with further sun safety protection.
“The new shade cloth shelter encourages teachers and students to utilise the space for outdoor learning and, importantly, play,” Ms Marsella said.

“Plato says, ‘Life must be lived as play’.  This is so true for our kinder students who thrive to play and learn in their outdoor area. We thank Dr Fiona Martin MP for this opportunity to support us in our learning through play."
“The Local School Community Fund gives our schools the chance to complete priority projects through funding for small scale projects,” Dr Martin said.
“St Mary’s Catholic Primary school is the first of 13 projects completed in Reid, with $200,000 being delivered across eligible government, Catholic and independent schools in our area.”
