Better healthcare access for Reid

Liberal candidate for Reid

A Dutton Government will deliver a much-needed Urgent Care Clinic for Reid, following advocacy for more local healthcare from Grange Chung.

Liberal candidate for Reid, Grange Chung, has secured this important commitment to deliver better, faster access to much-needed primary healthcare, showing that Reid will no longer be taken for granted the way it has under the Albanese Labor Government.

“In the three years under the Labor Government, Reid’s GP bulk billing rate has dropped by almost 11 per cent – that’s a reduction of more than 330,000 bulk billing services,” said Mr Chung.

“Labor has had three years to secure an Urgent Care Clinic for Reid, but they have failed to deliver. All they have offered is desperate political scare campaigns, and our community deserves better; it deserves results.”
“Only a Dutton Government will ensure our community gets the health services that people need, making it easier for local families to access a bulk billing GP.”

Under Labor, it has never been harder or more expensive to see a GP. Medicare bulk billing rates have collapsed from 88 percent under the Coalition to 77 percent under Mr Albanese and Labor.

As a result, 1.5 million Australians avoided seeing a GP last financial year because they just could not afford it under Labor. This is only adding further demand to already under pressure hospitals.

Shadow Minister for Health and Aged Care, Senator Anne Ruston, said that the Liberals were focused on ensuring all Australians have timely and affordable access to a GP.

“We recognise the urgent need for better access to affordable health services in the middle of Labor’s primary healthcare crisis,” Shadow Minister Ruston said. “The Liberals will deliver Urgent Care Clinics as they were intended — focused on relieving pressure on local hospitals and providing real access to bulk billed urgent healthcare.”

“This important primary health commitment is all down to the tireless campaigning by Grange Chung. Grange is a fierce advocate for Reid and will be a strong voice for his community in Canberra.”
